ROOM 28 HOSTS SECOND LIVE SHOW AT LA PREGUNTA ARTS CAFE

The Freshest Comedy Troupe to Hit NYC Returns to the Stage

On May 16th, 2008, La Pregunta Arts Café (1528 Amsterdam Avenue New York, NY) will open its doors to Room 28 for another night of comedy and laughter. Room 28, a name derived from a Dominican urban legend, pertains to the group who film sketch comedy that is featured on various Internet websites such as LaMega.com, Nochelatina.com, SalsaMerengue.com, Migente.com, and Dailymotion.com.

This first sold out show was hosted throughout by various members of the group and included live sketches and the viewing of filmed sketches as well. Closing the show was comedienne Michelle Buteau, performing a hilarious stand-up routine. Open to both the general public and specially invited guests from all aspects of the entertainment industry, the show was sure to create quite a buzz for everyone involved. Jerry Diaz, show director, said, “The turnout for the show was excellent. The excitement never dulled and we look forward to presenting more surprises as the live shows continue.”

The performance acted as an introduction to an on-going series of monthly shows by Room 28 at various locations throughout New York City. Each show, similar to this first one, will contain acts by both the group and a featured stand-up comedian or musical performance. The next performance on May 16th will be headlined by comedian Victor Cruz. Guests are asked to RSVP to RSVP@Room28Comedy.com no later than May 14th. Doors open at 7pm, show begins at 8pm and tickets are $10 at the door. For those who cannot make it to the show in person, it will be streamed live on SalsaMerengue.com.

Room 28's First Live Show!!

La Pregunta Arts Cafe, the new cultural hot spot of the upper west side (Washington Heights ;o) ), was host to a comedy night on March 13th. Hosted by Elmo DiFoca and JFernz with a performance by comedian Ruperto Vanderpool, the show opened up to a full house. When it was over there were bellyaches and fogged windows. Much love to Yscaira, who runs the cafe, and Ruperto who closed the show lovely! Next show will be April 10th, mark your calendars now!!!!

Here's a video from salsamerengue.com (thanks Cucho!). The lighting was low so enjoy the nightvision (minus sex tape action...unless you consider what they do on stage... nevermind!). This was the guys first time co-hosting together, unrehearsed for the most part. Watch ;o)
