ROOM 28 JOINS FORCES WITH THE NEW YORK INTERNATIONAL LATINO FILM
FESTIVAL PRESENTED BY HBO
Room 28 Members Featured in All Festival Creative
NEW YORK (June 12th)-- Room 28 proves they can go above and beyond sketch comedy by joining the artistic side of this year’s New York International Latino Film Festival (NYILFF). Hand picked to co-write the film festival’s national commercial spot were Room 28’s own Jerry Diaz and Jaime Fernandez. Sprinkled with some improve, the script was cut into both a 30 second spot and a 60 second spot which was directed by Alberto Ferreras and produced by Trina Bardusco of Latino Media Works. “We’re honored to be given this opportunity to showcase our creative abilities through the platform and exposure that comes with the festival,” said Jaime.
After writing the script, Jerry and Jaime were then cast to star in the commercial as well as model for the print advertisement. Michael Diaz of Room 28 also appears in the commercial as well as provides voiceover. “We’re always on the lookout to support emerging talent and after seeing some of the troupe’s live performances, we knew they would be a great fit in helping us with our commercial,” said Calixto Chinchilla, Executive Director of the NYILFF.
Coming to New York from July 22-27th, the 9th annual New York International Latino Film Festival will host various film premieres throughout NYC. The 30 second commercial will hit selected AMC Theaters on blockbuster 4th of July weekend and then air throughout on Time Warner Cable. Print advertisements will appear on bus shelters in NYC on June 13th. Cinedulce.com, the new website dedicated to Urban Latino, Urban and Latin Cinema, will feature some “Behind the Scenes” footage and bloopers on the site in July.
Room 28, a name derived from a Dominican urban legend, pertains to the group of cast members who film sketch comedy that is featured on various Internet websites such as Dailymotion.com, LaMega.com, and SalsaMerengue.com.
